Get Ready to Join a Grant Review Committee (GRC)!

WHY:

Being a member of a GRC is a meaningful way to be involved with Impact 100 NYC's mission of supporting local nonprofits and their transformative programs. No experience necessary!

What's New This Year:

  • Our new GRC - Bright Lights - brings us to SIX GRC's to choose from
  • We will offer differentiated training for new and returning GRC members

The Basics:

  • Members participate on one of six GRC's. Each committee includes approximately 25 members and a leadership team of three co-chairs.
  • GRC members can anticipate spending approximately 12-15 hours over the course of 3 months reading applications and meeting with fellow members.

Your Commitment:

  • Attend one virtual training session to learn or get an update on how to evaluate grant applications. Each year we strengthen our process based on members’ valuable feedback. Returning GRC members who want an extra refresher may select the New Member Training.

For Returning GRC Members:

Wednesday, January 29 at 6PM

Thursday, January 30 at 9:45AM

For New GRC Members:

Wednesday, Jan 29 at 9:45AM

Thursday, January 30 at  6PM

    • Actively participate in your committee’s two meetings
      • one in late February/early March to select three nonprofits to move on to virtual site visits
      • one in mid-April to identify your GRC’s Finalist
    • On your own time, evaluate 8-9 assigned applications using
      • established criteria
      • a consistent evaluation process (rubric will be provided)
        • Attend (or review on your own time) virtual site visits
          • meet the organization’s leadership
          • learn about each applicant’s accomplishments, operations, and the proposal it submitted to Impact 100 NYC
          • specific dates TBD between March 17th and April 11th

This process works best when you actively contribute to committee discussions and deliberations at each step of the grant cycle. You must be present at the meetings in order to vote to move organizations forward. Please sign up for a committee only if you are able to attend both meeting dates. If you participated last year, you may, but do not have to sign up for the same committee you served on last year.

Committees will fill up in a NY MINUTE, so plan to sign up on January 8th.

Please email grant.review@impact100nyc.org with any questions.
