nextgen FAQ's

Who can be a member?

Impact 100 NYC nextgen is open to anyone in New York City from grades 8 - 12!

How does Impact 100 NYC nextgen work?

nextgen is a collective giving circle; each teen raises up to $100 and pools resources with others to help support a local nonprofit. Local nonprofits apply for a grant, we evaluate their proposals, the finalists will pitch their projects again, and we vote! We also have service events that members can participate in for community service hours and to forge community!

Do I have to donate $100?

Not necessarily! If you are unable to donate the full $100, any amount is acceptable and can make an impact!

Where do I donate?

You can donate at our grapevine:

What is required of being a member?

Members choose their own level of involvement. Some members reap the benefit of knowing that their donation will be put to good use in the community. Others may want to participate in our monthly service events or join the Leadership Team! We encourage all to participate in the grant review process in choosing the grant recipient finalists. Whatever the level of participation, all members have the opportunity to vote for the grant recipients at our annual Big Give in the Spring.

What nonprofits has nextgen funded?

In 2021, we awarded $7,000 to Day One, a non-profit that offers services to NYC youth (24 and under) to end dating abuse and domestic violence through community education, supportive services, legal advocacy, and leadership development. In 2022, we awarded $7,300 to Teens for Food Justice, a youth-led movement ending food insecurity by building a just food system and addressing the devastating cycle of diet-related health consequences across lower-income communities in NYC.

What types of projects do we fund?

Each year, we open grant applications to NYC-based nonprofits working on behalf of New Yorkers and our communities across the five boroughs. Among the key criteria is that the grant supports innovative work and makes a transformational impact. Our grants fund work that ranges in focus and service areas and may either be new projects or expand existing programs or capital projects. We aim to select an organization that, if empowered with our funding, would take a step forward in advancing their mission.
